My diary
July 2nd, 2010
Today we had my grandfathers funeral. This was a really hard day on me, since my grandfather has always been really special to me while growing up. He was always there when someone needed him and he was never complaining about anything. We could always count on him, and he never asked for anything in return. As I turned 16 and got my tractor drivers license, he purchased a 49cc motorcycle for me to have, in return that I mowed his lawn. Same thing with the banjo he bought. Take care of the lawn. He is, and will always be missed. After several years fighting cancer, he can finaly rest in pease.

Today we performed at this dance thing and it went OK. Alf hasn't performed much for the past 18 years, so it was fun to see him enjoy himself doing what he loves to do.

Today me and Inge Noralf and Alf Henning played at a nursing home in Klepp. Full house and great feedback. Had picking trouble on the banjo because I had modified the picks, but the audience loved it. We opend with 2 vers from "Go tell aunt Rhodie", "Tom Dooley" and "Cripple Creek". Afterwards Inge sang 3 songs and Alf was backup. We then had an hour brake and the Lions Club Klepp had a photo display up on a screen. After some food, coffee and cake we started back up again and we ended with a big hit. The entire audience joined in. After the thing was done everyone was coming up to us telling us how they loved it. They want us back next year.. A nice ending for the day. We also recorded the gig, so I might upload some of it to youtube.

Visited Erlend today and got alot of good tips. Found out I had to tighten the bolts on the banjo. It had a little to much deep sound. Tighten the bolts and the banjo now sounds alot better. Need to get a metronom, a few books, a capo and get the 5th string fixed with some knots that works like a capo. This guy really knows his stuff. Trombone, flute, mandolin, autoharp, guitar, banjo, piano, etc. The list is almost endless of what he can play. I had a really nice time and I have alot to work on. Hopefully I will be able to get it going pretty smooth and maybe I can visit him again some time.
